Born in Caracas, Venezuela.
Throughout her artistic journey, Maria has ventured into graphic design, drawing, photography and painting, disciplines that work without limitations and combine to result in pieces that surprise by the use of support and the mixture of techniques.
During the eighties she began her exhibition activity, when she produced pieces framed within abstract expressionism and a painting with a strong command of the gestural in which, according to the artist's own words, «(...) only the supreme gesture of painting mattered» .
At this moment, although she has not turned away from color and geometry, the artist carries out a more reflective and conceptual work through which she reviews the currency -the paper money in particular- of different denominations and nationalities, in which let us glimpse current political, economic and social issues, through the use of digital printing on Plexiglas sheets.
