Savannah’s Only Sunday Jazz Brunch at the Westin
Only at the Savannah Westin Hotel, you can listen to smooth Jazz while looking at the historic Savannah River Street while watching yachts, cargo ships and ferry glide by on the Savannah River all while dining on an unlimited seafood brunch buffet. Dream Weaver Photos had the privilege of “dining while shooting on location” at this upscale Savannah secret buffet. I call it a secret because I don’t think all of Savannah knows about this gem of a good time because I was able to get a seat with a great view!
First of all, our local celebrity is playing there every week – Jeremy and the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra –
not only do they “play good”- they “do” good! These amazing friends go on a mission trip every year – taking their orchestra with them. In Jeremy’s own words:: As lifelong best friends, we (Jeremy and Clay) get to travel the globe, entertaining the best crowds, performing great music and making a whole lot of new friends along the way. However, a few years ago we were challenged to use our unique platform and influence for a completely selfless cause — working with the outcasts and orphans in Chennai, India. That was the catalyst. We simply couldn’t go back to doing business as usual; we knew we had a higher purpose for being on this planet. We still love to perform with our fiery hot Southern Big Band all over the place, but now we make time to use our gifts to help others in big ways. Since our first mission trip together, we have raised support to take The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra on similar service-centered, socially-oriented trips to Nova Scotia (2015) and Poland (2016). In each place we partnered with locally established service organizations, like schools, hospitals, and religious centers, to provide connecting points with their neighbors and assist in each group’s work of affecting positive changes in their communities. Basically, we performed wherever (night clubs, nursing homes, colleges, synagogues, shopping malls, or just in the streets) and served however (teaching, painting, scraping, loading, shoveling) to help whomever. Before you arrive at the seafood buffet at the Westin , I only have 2 words of advice: come hungry.
I ate my weight in oysters, jumbo shrimp and eggs Benedict before realizing that I had walked past the dessert tables (yes, plural..more than one table filled with Reese’s and Key Lime pies and “make-your-own sundae” but better than anything you could make on your own) After listening to some jazz – I got up for my third trip and sailed past a sushi boat! If you are a true breakfast person, then you’ll love the omelet station and the bacon and eggs – waffles – plus this amazing sausage with bits of pineapple infused to give it this sweet but perfect flavor bursting in your mouth! To wash it all down at the end of my photo shoot, I sipped on a delicious mimosa (2 mimosas come with every adult meal at no extra charge).
While I was getting – let’s say – my 4th plate – a couple sitting in front of the huge windows overlooking the river got engaged! The staff clapped and served them a special dessert! Hint, hint for all you guys out there thinking of popping the question!
Chef Matt has big ideas and plans for the Aqua Star buffet. (Imagine an ice sculpture in the middle of the room surrounded by seafood) Well, I guess i will just have to do another photo shoot at the Westin again when that happens. What a hard life I lead.
